When I became an Esthetician many moons ago, I thought it would be fun to work closely with people to help them solve their skin problems, that I would simply share my expert knowledge of skincare ingredients, techniques and treatments. I assumed that everyone would just follow my guidance and be happy with their skin.
A few months into practice, a young client sat in my treatment room in tears, devastated because we weren’t able to clear her acne in time for her prom. Why weren’t we seeing results? I did everything by the book, had followed all of the science based rules and guidelines from my training, and yet, ugh, I failed her.
In that moment, I realized everything was wrong with the conventional approach to skincare. I envisioned how to expand skincare beyond the broken systems and misinformation and towards healing and selfcare happiness.
I realized that the current skincare system sets people up for failure. The skincare industry as a whole isn’t trying to solve your skin problems; it’s a system of messages designed to get you to buy things. It is ran and regulated by big beauty companies and their executives who couldn't be more disconnected from your needs, whose primary goal is not to fix your skin problems, rather, to keep you on the hamster wheel of spending and trying new products regardless if it truly helps you. In our culture, we’ve all been conditioned to base our beliefs in marketing sound bites, not the truth, which leads to waisting time and money.
The bottom line: Great skin is achieved by committing to a process.
Glowmode is a system that works, created from my love of helping people solve their skin problems.
