7 areas I investigate for acne triggers
Treating acne without knowing what triggers it is guessing, and guessing gets expensive. Acne rarely has one cause, which is why one product rarely fixes it.
When it started, what has worked, what hasn’t, and how it has changed can narrow the triggers down.
Breakouts that keep time with your cycle are a major clue in the hormonal imbalances that keep you breaking out.
Energy drinks, sugar, whey protein, high carb diets, and anything that turns into sugar in the body can keep breakouts going.
Blood sugar that spikes and crashes raises insulin, and insulin can create many different hormonal imbalances.
Some birth control and other prescriptions can cause acne or make it worse.
Stress and short sleep raise cortisol, and cortisol can raise oil production.
Pore-clogging ingredients are in a lot of products sold for acne. Makeup and hair products count.
